The Borno state capital has it that,shettima lawan maina the caretaker Chairman of MAFA local government area of the state, was apprehended on Saturday by a small group of horse soldiers of the Operation Lafiya Dole following information that the chairman of MAFA was hiding one of the fleeing top commanders of the Boko Haram militants in his house.
According to the Sources from the military that told DAILY POST that, the chairman was apprehended alongside with the top Boko Haram commander, adding that, since his apprehend the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole,Leo Irabor the Major General has been under pressure with some top politicians both at the state and National Assembly to release the chairman.
According to the source,he said that the general told the pleading politicians that, much warnings had been given concerning the run away Boko Haram militants to public and communities to expose any individual or group of persons suspected to be militants.
He further said that, one of the local government councilors, who happens to be a close associate of the chairman saw and identified the commander at the residence of the chairman (shattima Law an maina).
“It was gathered that, the Boko Haram commander killed the councilor’s father during their time of greatest strength in MAFA.
According to the source he said After discovering that, the commander had returned and hiding in the Chairman’s house, the councilor told the chairman that, he is going to report to the military, and the chairman pleaded with him, giving him some reasons why he must not expose the boko haram man.
