Man allegedly killed his lover,his rival and poisoned himself in Lagos.



The Life in Ebijimi Street in the Meiran area of Lagos has yet to be fully restored after a jilted engineer who allegedly killed his lover, his rival and also poisoned himself.

The woman in question is, Oriyomi Folarin, a divorcee the popularly call her Iya Corner,she operated a beer parlor on the street and had three grown-up children.

And it was also  gathered that the engineer, identified as Ogundare, is the person that opened the shop for the woman and rented an apartment for her in the Agbado area of Ogun State.

It was Around 9am on Sunday,when mr Ogundare, who was said to be a building engineer, reportedly attack strongly and seize the shop with a gallon of petrol, poured it on the woman and his rival, Akinade Omole, aka Currency, and set them on fire .

 The said that the fire spread to mr Ogundare’s hand while fleeing the scene. 

It was gathered that Omole and Folarin died in a hospital in the community on Monday from out of  the burns they suffered.

On hearing of the death of the two victims ,mr Ogundare, who had gone into hiding, reportedly poisoned himself.

When the reporter visited the community on Wednesday, the said that the beer parlour shop was shut.

 The  resident if that place, who gave his name only as Femi, we gathered  that mr Ogundare had seen the Highlander Jeep that Omole parked at a filling station  a few metres away from the beer parlour and had trailed him.

The resident Femi said, “ that The  engineer bought fuel in a jerrycan and headed for Iya Corner’s shop.

He said  I never thought Mr Ogundare had any sign of any future evil. 

On getting there, he met Iya Corner and Currency discoursing as Currency ate eba that the .

“He poured the fuel on them and set them on fire. The  fire also caught him in the hand but he escaped. 

By as at the time people assisted Iya Corner and Currency to put out the fire, they had suffered serious burns.

He said that Currency’s private parts were affected, And  They died on Monday.”

Another eyewitness,name Jacob Oyedeji, said he was about going to bed on that day when he heard some people shouting for help.

He said, “I rushed out to see what was happening only to see Currency and Iya Corner engulfed in flames. 

The Policemen from the Meiran division also came that evening.

It was  the following day that we heard that they were dead.”


Another resident of that place name, Yusuf Ajibola, said mr Ogundare and Iya Corner had been in a romantic relationship for years until sometime in the year 2016 when Mr Ogundare had financial challenges and could no longer meet his lover’s needs.


“That was when Iya Corner started befriending mr currency. 

He said that The engineer knew that mr Currency and Iya Corner were in a relationship. 

He warned the woman to stop the relationship or she should be ready to forfeit the shop he opened for her, but she refused.


“During the Christmas time,the Engineer went to the shop and disrupted it.

And mr Currency and the iya corner got him arrested and he was detained by the police.

He said, He felt humiliated because he had spent a lot of money on the iya corners, he added.

The owner of the shop, who spoke on condition of not mentioning his name, said the incident was a disgrace to the families of the three parties involved, adding that mr Currency was supposed to be make  a chief in his home town where he hailed from in Oyo State in a few weeks’ time.

  he added that the two men are married with children.

He said that  The Mr Ogundare built a house in the Obadeyi and also have three  children that are graduates.

He said that he was surprised that he conducted himself in such a manner.

The iya corner  first child has three children and one of them,name Wunmi, recently graduated.

He said, She narrowly escaped being consumed by the fire that evening.

“I gathered that yesterday (Tuesday) that Mr Ogundare took poison and he died. 

However he said that, a friend just told him today that he was still alive but still in a critical condition at a hospital.


The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command,name SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the incident, said the police had launched a manhunt for Ogundare.

He said, that the Two victims are dead; the suspect is still alive, but still on the run. 

The are putting Effort  on to track him. 

 He said that The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba for further investigation.”
