A security guard allegedly attacked two brothers with machete cutting off the right thumb of one of them.


Mr Abe Awobifawo, A security guard in Glory Estate, Ifako in Gbagada area of lagos state who allegedly attacked two brothers with machete cutting off the right thumb of one of them, was, brought before an Ogudu Magistrates ’ Court in Lagos on friday.

Mr Abe Awobifawo,is said to be 32 years old , is facing two counts of causing grievous harm and wounding.


Mr Abe Awobifawo committed the  offence on January 15, at Glory Estate, Police Prosecutor Ihiehie Lucky told the court.

He further said that the incident was reported at Ifako Police Station, that following a misunderstanding (security guard) went into the room and brought out a machete to attack one of the victims, name Steven Erondu.

“mr Abe Awobifawo chopp  off Steven’s Erondu right thumb, his leg and also stabbed him in the stomach that brought out  part of his intestines.

“ that prompted Steven’s younger brother, Isreal,he came to  rescue and grabbed the accused and also use the same machete to cut him on his back and right hand before people came to save the situation.

Mr Ihiehie lucky the police prosecutor told the court that Steven is lying critically ill in the hospital, while Isreal was able to appear in court with injuries.

The offences go against Sections 243 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused,Mr Abe Awobifawo however, pleaded that he is  not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, put off to a later time to the bail application of the Mr Abe Awobifawo because one of the victims was still lying critically ill in the hospital.

She ordered that the mr Awobifowa should be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to Feb 6 2017
