The two customs officers that was declared wanted by the Nigeria Customs Service in connection with the 661 pump-action rifles have been recovered in the area of Apapa mile 2 Lagos State,the been have surrendered to the authorities.
The we learnt that the two suspects, odiba Haruna Inah, with service number 133386 ACIC and Abdullahi I, with service number 44483 ASC, reported themselves to the Federal Operations Unit,in Ikeja, on Wednesday.
Our correspondent had reported that the two suspects were declared wanted for allegedly clearing a container laden what of 661 pump-action rifles.
It was also learnt that the two officers had run away immediately the weapons were uncovered by customs officials attached to the FOU, Zone A, Ikeja.
According to the source he said that the men showed up at the FOU office on Wednesday,the were detained and were undergoing some interrogations.
He further said, “They have surrendered for arrest.
They came today immediately after they were declared wanted.
While one report in the morning, the other came around 4pm.
They have been arrested and the are currently undergoing interrogation.”
The source said that the importer,escort and clearing agent, , were also making useful point at the of the investigations appropriate actions would be taken.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the FOU, at Ikeja lagos, Jerry Attah, confirmed the surrender of the two customs officials and the invitation of the shipping company.
He said investigations is still going on into the incident.
Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the container, which were imported from China, was bound in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State before they were intercepted.
According to the source, that saw the manifest of the container, said they were headed for FESTAC Town extension.
